A seller of topsolid told me Solidworks will loose parasolid and don't know the future. Is it true?
This has been mentioned for several years (largely by Pro-E reps) and has not happened yet. There has been no warning given from anyone at SW Corp. If it ever does happen I would expect at least a couple of years advance notice.
Sounds like FUD from a competitor.
Licensing of the parasolid kernel makes money for Siemens. Not likely they are going to restrict one of their bigger customers from licensing the kernel.
Thank you very much Jeff and Anna! Another question for u. At my shop, we use Solidworks. I'm CNC programmer and operator. We use Surfcam (CAM). We'd like to change CAM software. Which one would u choose between ''TopSolid CAM'' ''Delcam (Feature CAM)'' or ''Mastercam''?
Here we use AlphaCam for our 5 & 3 axis machining centers - works well
ok, i have not been following corporate swallow these past few years,.. so AlphaCAM, EdgeCAM , SurfCAM, VISI and... WorkNC are now all under Vero (which is owned by Hexagon AB)?
That is a very personal decision based on what type of parts you machine and your needs as a business.
Best to get each in and have them demo program some of your typical variety of parts. Have them show you how they can help with any roadblocks you are currently experiencing. Can the CAM package grow as your company grows and morphs?
Lots of questions you need to put together before you bring in the resellers.
