So I am testing industrial sized hinges that hold doors up to 10,000 lbs. in theory. I want to test and make sure the hinges in fact will hold this load and how they respond to different loads of a door. I have ran multiple tests from various routes including using a remote mass/load and put a torque on the hinge. I have tried creating a very simple weighted door and then using gravity as the downward force, and nothing seems accurate. When using the door method, the width/size of the door changes the overall stress, but the actual given weight does not, this does not makes sense. Any pointers on how an accurate test may be run for this setup? Attached is the setup.
