Hi
I have the PDMworks Vault set up on my computer and recently wehave purchased 2 more seats of Solidworks. I want to use mycomputer as the main server for these computers and be theadministrator of the Vault. How do I set the other 2 workstations as the clients and find the Vault on my computer?

Simple, when they attemptto login, have them use your machine name 'vaultcomputer'.

  So basically I need to install PDMworks Workgroup on the other 2wprkstations and then create user profiles and give thempasswords to access the vault.

    Correct - I'm assuming you purchasedSolidWorks Office Professional. When you install SolidWorks ittypically automatically installs the PDMWorks Workgroup client.

Diarmuid - If you're running an WinXP machine, the clients may have a problem connecting to your computer. I came across this recently and had to open up 3 ports to get everything to work. Here's how:

There is a problem logging into a PDMWorks vault running Windows XP SP2 from another other computer due to the new Windows Firewall that is part of XP SP2. PDMWorks works correctly if communication is enabled through the 3 ports that PDMWorks needs.

To manually fix this on a vault server machine running XP SP2, do the following:

1) Open Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Security Center
2) Click on Windows Firewall
3) Click on the Exceptions tab
4) Click on Add Port... 3 times, once each for the 3 PDMWorks ports -
20000 is the PDMWorks VaultAdmin port
30000 is the PDMWorks Data port
40000 is the PDMWorks Request port.

Click OK, etc. and clients should be able to login to that machine's vault server now.
