I would like to know if I can load my solidworks on my work computer and my laptop or am I required to purchase another seat.
I don´t know if this apply´s everywhere but I´m in Iceland and my VAR is in Norway and I have to transfer the license all the time between my laptop and the PC in my office
Release license on every shutdown automatically.
You are allowed to "activate" SW on two workstations, basically an 80/20 rule, so a main workstation and a "training"/ occasional home use installation. It's all the same installation, just how SW looks at the installations
So basically only one person should be using the same license, one installed at work and one installed at home.
You can borrow a license for the laptop, or ask for a home license from your VAR.
it depends on whether you are using standalone license or network license. Standalone is currently allowed to install in 2 places (1 as backup, 80/20) as Brian stated. If you are on a network license you need to contact the VAR and get the HUL, Home User License) as Chris stated.
The dual license policy strictly depends on your country.
e.g. Japan and Italy don't allow the second "free" license even for personal home use, so you have to borrow the license from the license server.
Good point, was going to update my response to say that today.
