How long will we have to suffer with cons that are colored in 4 shades of grey? Bring back some color so I can read again. This is a big mistake, IMO.
I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for colour to be re-instated.
Why the interest in SP2 when SP1 hasn't been released yet?
I agree! the icons are terrible
Your answer is SP3 in April. SOLIDWORKS 2016 User Interface
Will we get performance back with the new icons?

What performance have you lost?
Where is SP2.0????
It says it was supposed to be released in January, but it isn't listed on the website for download.
I cannot import step files because I get an error message that says - "This model is outside of the 1000m modelling limit".
I never had a problem with converting step files in 2014 or 2015. Apparently this problem is supposed to be fixed in SP2.0, but where is it?!
if your company have active subscription you could sign to EV program and download SP2.0 already. i have it at home for at least a 1-2weeks now;p
if you want you can send my that step file and i can let you know if it's sorted in sp2.0
Are they giant step files, Amanda?
I have SP1 and it opens step files fine, but mine are only about 2.2 x 2.5 x 2m.
The 1000m limit has been existing for ever. No element of a part outside a cube with 1000m sides and centroid in origin.
I had the problem once I was to model a railroad track. Assemblies does not have the same limit so I modeled the track in 1000m x 1000m squares and put them together.
Perhaps it has been solved in sp2.0 but I doubt it.
If I were you, I would ask to get the step-file in smaller portions.
Thank you! I had no idea I had to sign up for the EV program, I thought it would show up in the customer portal. When it's finished downloading, I'll try converting the step file again. I would say these files are pretty large but I'm sure there are some of you who deal with much larger files. The file in question is 89,000 KB but some of the larger files can be 300,000 KB. These are step files of Caterpillar generators, I don't really have the option of requesting these in smaller portions, I just get what they publish. Thank you all for your help
SP2.0 is usually released shortly after SolidWorks World, although you can use E.V. In a production environment I would wait for the final release.
The limit mentioned is 1000 METER. A matter of physical size - not file size.
Regardless, a generator isn't going to be anywhere close to 1000 meters. And like I said I never had this problem with any of the previous versions of Solidworks. Also the file is an assembly file not a part file. I just finished the download and it converted the file with no problem.
The assembly is only 133m x 61m x 84m
Sounds like a units issue. Maybe the file is in mm and SW thinks it is meters.
I think John Ferullo is correct. I haven't done this in awhile, but I think there is an option to set the units on import.
The files are in mm. I saw another thread that mentioned changing the units on import, I don't know if this was an option in the past but there isn't an option available that allows me to change the units. Whatever the issue was, luckily it is fixed in sp2.0.
Do you have any really large radii?
I have seen issues in which a part falls well within the limits, but there is a really large radius, and the center point of the radius puts it outside the limit.
(Some truck trailers are slightly "crowned" so that they "level out" when a load is applied - these arcs can have a really large radius.)
It's like watching paint dry waiting for 2016 sp2
Will 2017 be out before it is released?
Maybe they decided to include the color scheme to SP2 due to public outcry?
Not likely, but here's hoping!!
dont think so, you can download SP2.0EV and I dont see any options for colour changes.
and I do recall in other topic about colour schem, that they say it's to late to inculde it in SP2.0 anyway.
I hear ya.
I'm sitting here waiting to upgrade my 2013 sp5, I just want most of the bugs and colour scheme sorted before I load on 2016. Seems hardly worth loading on 2015 anymore.
I could probably live with the colour scheme but there seems to be quite a few bugs floating around to.
I just watched a webinar yesterday on SWW2016 and they said the old icons will be back with SP 3.0.
It's now available
Yeah just seen that, there are quite a few bugs listed as fixed.
