      EPDM Duplicate File naming switch turned back on....What are the effects on existing files?

      EPDM initially installed with "allow" duplicate file naming.  It has been a nightmare, they know want to turn it back on, how will it effect the jobs currently stored in the vault.   Most of the time the "same" files are not in the same assembly or design.  But there have been a few.  What problems will this have on current data, if the switch is turned back on.

          From the administration guide:

          =========================================

          • Enabling duplicate file name checking affects only future operations. Enterprise PDM

          does not check the vault for existing files with duplicate names.

          • Duplicate file name checking is global to all folders and files in the vault. To support

          multiple files with the same name in different folders, consider using file templates

          to handle unique file naming.

          • When enabled, the following operations check for duplicate file names:

          • Initial check-in (including undo check-out)

          • Rename

          • Recover (from deleted files)

          • The duplicate-name setting is ignored for items. Item IDs must always be unique.
