I am wondering if I can add and edit a .stp file using solidworks. I only have the .stp file ...there is no solidworks file. Thank you all.
Yes you can edit STP file.

If you need the design tree we have imported the .stp files, Insert, FeatureWorks(6 down),Recognize Features.
If the part isn't too complex it can "recreate" it and give you a Design Tree.

Here is another thread. It talks about using FeatureWorks to detect Solidworks features. I've noticed that depending on the part, it might not be very "clean" in converting the features. Can i edit an imported part (STEP file)?
