Hello all,
Fillet or Radius?
So one of the engineers here is adamant that it must be called out as Radius (R .XXX). The machinist and Cadd guy say we can call it a fillet.
What do you call this? Any reliable source that states, yes this is a fillet or radius? (I think it's both depending on the application).
I've looked it up in the machinery's handbook and---> I still couldn't get a concrete answer.
Thanks in advance,
Dino
Hello,
"Fillet" is the noun, the "thing" .
"Radius" (abbreviated as "R") along with its numeric value, is a dimension for the thing.
It designates a circular profile (or a spherical profile with "SR") of a given size.
ASME's standards (though it's not binding unless specified contractually) indicate this.
Cheers,
Kevin
