Why doesn Replace work in "Edit Referenced File Locations"

Relatively new user to solid works so please forgive me if I'm stating the obvious or have missed something entirely.

I'm currently working on some assembly's in which most of the sub components have been moved from one directory to another. Following the solid works help I select the assembly in the open menu and click on references . Once in "edit Referenced File Locations" the help says I can highlight the "In Folder" column and replace the old directory with the new. and that when I do that the edited text would go green.

All that happens for me is that solid works freezes for a few second then seems to finish the replace but nothing has been changed.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so is there a work around/patch/fix I need to be aware of.
