I'm afraid I have some bad news for you. Currently the only way to have a dimension leader line break around another type of leader is manually. Drag the end back past the other leader, then insert a sketched line (with matching thickness, type, and color) from the leader to the drawing view. And of course if something moves you'll need to adjust the extension line and sketched line.
I think the expression is:
Thanks, anyway. At least I know now.
It's hard, as I'm sure you have found, trying to explain to someone who has drafting experience why something apparently really simple is often really hard in 3D CAD drawings.
I've certainly never seen a decent detailing tool in a 3D CAD system.

There is no way to "mate" the leader extension coincident to the pseudo leader you sketched?
You should be able to make it coincident or colinear with the model geometry that the dimension is referencing. That way you may only need to adjust the endpoints if something moves.
