I upated the model. the length disappeared from about half of ths weldment bodies. Any ideas on how to fix this. model was started in 2014 sp.5 and converted to 2015 sp 3. currently running 2015 sp. 4
There is an issue with SW2015 where if the quote symbol (") is used in a custom property (particularly the Description) of the library sketch (.sldlfp file) used for the Structural Member function, then the Length property will not properly evaluate. It happened to me also. If that's the case in your situation, if you'll remove it, or replace it with two apostrophes (which looks the same), then reload the sketch in each feature it should be okay. Please report back to let us know if that fixed the problem.
That did the trick. Thank you for the help. Hope they fix this in 2016.
Nope. Still broken in 2016.
Great. so much for upgrading. Was forced by another division to go to 2015. That will not happen again.
I have the same problem with my weldment. Half of the lengths in the cut list populate, half do not. I am only using one type of member profile, my structure is created from one 3D sketch, and one Member Insert command composed of about 14 groups, making 8 member types. If I look in the properties for the cut list items in the model, the lengths are calculating fine, the evaluated value is present for all 8 member types. But this value is missing in the cut list. How is it possible that the value is right there in front of my eyes in the properties, but not getting transferred to the cut list table? Im using 2018 SP2.
Upload the file, please.
The problem seemed to have fixed itself. I added members that had the problem into cut list item folders, then I deleted the folders and hit "update", and suddenly the missing length fields in my cut list table were populated. It just needed a little tweak.
Thanks for the reply, but I'm not sure an upload of my files would show anything useful at this point. Thanks anyway!
Ok, but be careful when deleting or restructuring of cut lists, Ghost cut-list items
