Opening a Catia File in SolidWorks

I have customers that would prefer to send us native Catia files instead of STEP files but I have found this to be very frustrating because SolidWorks is owned by the same company as Catia but the only way to get a Catia file in SolidWorks is to purchase the converter program they want to sell you. I have a friend that the company that he works for is using Inventor and it will open a Catia file as will Solid Edge but SolidWorks will not.

Does anyone know if SolidWorks is planning to ever address this huge short coming?

For the cost of the Catia converter software I can purchase a license of Inventor for about the same price unless they have dropped their price lately and that is ridiculous.
