Hi, I have question. I have a surface imported part (it consists of 3D sketches and Surface lofts). Is it possible I can get the same geometry as a Loft cut on another part?
Hi Angad Bajwa
you can make it as a solid part and then you can insert as part in any part file and do constains then use combine command to subtract it from other body. have attached a solid body part file and a .igs format as well part file is created in SW 2016
You should be able to use 2014 SOLIDWORKS Help - Surface Cut
You need to be more specific or take it further if you need more help.
Hi Ingvar. I am attaching 2 pdf files. I want a similar mold like prototype 1 2015.pdf but i want the shape like part3.pdf,
The geometry is an imported STL file which has been recognized as surface loft features. Multiple individual surface lofts.
I tried surface cut feature but it shows errors. Can I copy the 3D sketches from the imported surface and use them to make a sweep cut?
Also is it possible to extrude the 3D sketches in a desired shape.
Use Insert Part, then use constrains between them
I do not know the result when the surface is complex as its
Hi Daulat Singh,
Thank you so much.
I was able to open the .iGS file. The SLDPRT one doesn't open and shows an error. I am trying to play around with the .IGS file.
I use Solidworks 2013 maybe that's why it didn't open. Is it possible that I can make a sweep cut using this imported body on another part.
Can you tell me how did you make the surface loft features as solid ?
I was able to make the exact geometry cut through the other body that I wanted to. Thank you so so much.
I just need a little help on how did you make the surface imported file that I sent to a complete solid and then into a .IGS file.
I was able to open the .IGS file you sent and made it into a .SLDPRT and then use the combine feature with the other part to make the cut.
you are welcome Angad Bajwa to creat surface body into a solid body couple of thing should be kept in mind all the surface should be merged to gather and surface should create an closed volume.
So I have tried knitting the surfaces in the .SLDPRT that I had uploaded but I am unable to get a solid body like the one you attached.
I have 3 parts similar to the one you made solid. I want to make them solid too. Need help with them. Could you teach me how you did it.
i have attached a video file hope it will help you to understand the possess
Thank you so much Daulat Singh. The video was really helpful. I was able to patch the boundary but was still able to make it solid. I used the section view but it still showed hollow.
I am attaching another file. I tried filling its surface but it needs to have a closed surface. Any tips??
i have converted your file into solid and attached
Thank you so much Daulat Singh. You are a savior I am trying to learn how to do it on my own.
I tried making it solid on my own but it keeps saying boundary open. I did all the steps as the video. Could you make a small video for the how you made the single loop file a solid ? Thanks a lot
hope this video will help you to understand video format is .XESC
Thank you so much Daulat Singh, I was able to make the loop solid.
Is it possible to make a mold cavity using this solid loop like SolidWorks tutorial: extract core and create cavities from a part. - YouTube ?
