I created a weldment as a part file. I need to explode it to showit that way on a drawing. How can i do this? I know it would be easy as an assembly. Any suggestions. I am running 2014 sp5
Try using the move body command. I would make a new configuration and then suppress the move feature in the unexploded configuration.
you may also consider saving all bodies into separate parts, then inserting them into assembly, and then exploding them. This way you will have to spend more time to it, but you will have more flexibility
This would work well. When mating all of the parts that you saved from the bodies of your weldment, just select the origin of your assembly and of your part. The parts will be located based on their location in the parent weldment model thus saving you time from locating them with faces..etc. Create your exploded view from there as stated previously.
exploded views for multi-body parts (e.g. weldment) was introduced in 2012
being in the part tap "w" on the keyboard and then type "explode" and enter.
the exploded view will be under the specific configuration.
