currently using sw2013, want to install Enterprise PDM, would it be easier to upgrade to sw2016 first
What version of EPDM are you thinking of installing?
What Version of EPDM is your Server?
Currently we have matching versions, 2013, of SolidWorks and EPDM, I just wasn't sure if there were enhancements in 2016 that would make the migration easier
SolidWorks can not be in a version newer than whatever version of EPDM your running. You can have the EPDM with older version of SW (If you upgrade to PDM 2016 you can run SW16 15 or 14, not 13).
So if you're thinking of upgrading EPDM you'll have to Upgrade your SW.
Understood, the question is do I upgrade SW to 2016 first and then implement/migrate with EPDM 2016 or do I install EPDM 2013 with my 2013 SW, then after migration upgrade everything to 2016
I would upgrade SW to 16 and rollout PDM 16. Upgrade a EPDM server is more of a shore, you don't just installing the software. Also the PDM client for 16 is included in the SW16 install so it's easier to deploy the client to users.
Note: EPDM was renamed to SW PDM Pro for 2016
Why drop Enterprise from the brand? ...does that mean it isn't "enterprise" worthy? ;-)
Hello. EPDM is now PDM Pro and PDM Std. While it is possible to implement std on your own, I recommend working with your VAR. With PDM Pro, working with your VAR is a must. PDM Pro/Std should always be the same as or newer than SW.
