Hi all,
I am trying to cut away from the the triangular extrusion up to the OUTER highlighted surface on the side of the extrusion. However, the cut goes all the way through to the opposite side. I do not want there to be any holes in the cylindrical body. Earlier, when I had designed the triangular extrusions in a much more complicated way, I was able to surface cut with no problem. Now however I can't seem to define that I want the closest surface to be the stopping point. The idea is to leave triangular "prongs" on the tube surface.
This is my current method of making the triangular extrusion. Does this have any bearing on the surface cut issues?
This happens sometimes when a surface crosses twice to the direction of the feature. However in your case it's working fine. The surface does not technically exist until it goes to the other side. Sure it was a 360 degree revolve but now its 330 or whatever and now the only way the extrude cut can go up to surface is to go to the other side.
You can copy the surface before you make that boss extrude to use later in the cut extrude.
