I'm new to flat patterns. How do I take an existing weldment and convert it into a flat pattern?
Have you tried the "Convert to Sheet Metal" icon on the Sheet Metal toolbar?
Yes. I selected my entire weldment and hit this button. Nothing happened. Is there an order I should d this in? Should I select one seldment piece at a time? Do I need to select corners? Does this unfold in the model or drawing? Could you give specifics?
I rarely work with sheet metal, so I'm afraid I can't be much more help. I'm sure someone else will be able to. Can you post the part? That will probably help.
Open one of the part and select one flat face and run the convert sheetmetal command and select the gage thickness, bend radius etc.
What is the icon for that? I am unable to receive a description when I hover over an Icon.
Is this weldment an assembly comprised of more than one component? If so, you need to unfold each component individually in the model mode. Before converting to sheetmetal, I would try to add bends by using the insert bends tool. When you select one flat surface, if you pick the surface you want to be up (outside), it will unfold with that surface up....
No it first existed as a multibody weldment.
Do the bodies show up as separate items in the feature tree?
So please describe to me the order of actions I should have taken after the formation of the Weldment. Pics of Icons would be great, because when I hover over an icon, it does not bring up a description of what it does.
Could you attach the file? It would be easier to see what is going on. I have never used weldments, so I am not sure what is possible. I don't understand why one wouldn't just start out with sheet metal to begin with. Anyhow, if you could attach the file, it would help....
