How to make a part likw this in sheetmetal?I want to show flatten view i.e length in unfolded position?
Lingesh,,, I would not do this in sheet metal. Just make a couple of configurations. One for the ring formed and one for the ring flattened. Both configs can be done with a "Swept Boss" For the formed config determine where your neutral axis should be (depending on material.) and make an arc length dimension on that. Then in the flatten config make the path length equal to the arc (neutral axis length). Should you change the diameter (or neutral axis) of the ring the flat will update. If you are hell bent on making this from sheet metal you can Sweep a square around the circular path and then fillet or cut extrude the corners in order to make a round stock.
Edit:,,, I have attached a file done with sheet metal and not sheet metal. Use the configurations only to go from formed to flat. Perhaps this will give you some ideas.
Thanks..and as a mark of gratitude,i name flatten config as Bacon Flattened..
here is the way to do it:1. Create circular sketch
2. Apply sheet metal Base/Flange (with square cross section)
3. Add fillets
As a result visually it will be bent bar and technically a sheet metal part (with all sheet metal parameters lie K-factor)
