Assy rebuilding is VERY slow in 2016 SP1.0
I see this note at the bottom of the screen when the assy is rebuilding. The assy i am working on right now has only 20 parts, Non are weldments, and a few are sheetmetal parts...
Any idea's???
Thanks

Tony,
I don't get a fuzzy screen.
Not sure about stretching down to cover the Task Bar.
I just know that at the very bottom left of the SolidWorks window (possibly on top of the task bar?) there is a text message saying "Updating cutlists. Disable automatic update for cut list to increase performance".
Tim
The automatically update cut list setting is a document setting (I want SOLIDWORKS INC. TO CREATE A SYSTEM SETTING). Therefore you must set it for each part that has a cut list (weldments and sheet metal).
Also you may want to change your part template and clear "automatically update cut list". This will require the creator of new parts to set this manually if it is needed.
If you do not see the cut list folder in a sheet metal part or weldment part then...
I tried to get a screen grab, but during the updating cutlist nonsense, the last image here is the blurry screen that just hangs. Also i'm constantly getting issues with files that ive saved and closed. that need to be re saved, and are constantly rebuilding. In drawing i also constanly get the sheets are outdated and ned to be updated pop ups even after a rebuild and save....
Justin,
Thanks for this info and noting that the Update Cutlist checkboxes are Document Settings, not System Settings.
I agree that SW should make them a system setting (Enhancement Request)
I also believe that it is a bug in the software to have these checkboxes NOT greyed out on an assembly for which they have no effect! In other words, my assembly of weldments has no cut list, yet it allows. me to change the Cutlist Settings when it really shouldn't allow me to set them as they have no effect.
I hope someone has or will notify SW of this bug.
Thanks,
Tim
I'm having the same issue. I've tried filtering for the word 'list' in the feature manager and then right clicking each cut list and removing the check for automatic update, etc, but I still have a slow down. I don't think it is saving the setting in the part documents when changed from the assembly feature manager tree.
Hope they get this fixed soon.
thanks for the update, don't really know if my company will be waiting that long, to be honest we have never used such a bad piece of software as this version. I know it's never been part of SW releases to allow backward compatibility but maybe it's time they did, i would love to go back to 2015. As i can't, and this version is killing our productivity we might be looking to change software.
Who ever is charge of testing before release really needs to be taken to task
I have the same problem, a large assembly full of sheetmetal parts (around 1500).
Unchecking the option in document properties doesn't do anything.
This is extremely time-consuming, and can't really wait for another month before this is fixed in SP3.
Is there another option, like a macro that runs to all the 1500 parts and turns it off on part level?
would love to get an answer to this. I get this stupid message when dragging parts into an assembly... very time consuming
