Hi

Im after some advice really on the best way to save drawings.

Obviously the drawings will have individual drawing numbers, but i also save the name of the drawing with this...ie.

'12345 End Bracket.slddrw'

This helps in identifying the item as well as number.

If i set up a border to auto fill the drawing number with the file name, it obviously puts the whole name in. Not really a 'drawing number' so to speak.

In the border drawing title, i then also put the drawing name i.e End Bracket.

How do other users set up their drawing file systems ? Do you have a seperate drawing list, or can one be generated into excel ? For example, if i save the drawing file as the number, with the description as the title, can i export an entire folders drawings to create a drawing register with number and title automatically into an excel spreadheet ? We tend to save individual projects we work on in their own folders, so it would be nice to have a register that accompanies the folder with all drawing numbers and descriptions.

Is there anyway.....or even, does this make any sense ?!!

Thanks
