The new Microsoft Surface Book looks great and I am considering it as a more portable replacement for my Dell M4600 (8GB RAM, Core i5, NVIDIA Quadro 2000M). Quoting from the Surface Book website we have:
- 6th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7
- 8 or 16GB RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce graphics (GPU)
With my work, assemblies can have 1000s of parts, but I get good performance from my current Dell setup.
From my limited knowledge of such things, I'm assuming the only major issue will be the graphics card, given that the Quadro range is suited to 3D modelling, but the GeForce is not. However the Microsoft website does claim the Surface Book suitable for "3D modeling with Auto Cad".
Anyone have any thoughts? Would be great to find out that SolidWorks have been working with Microsoft on this new product, but perhaps that is a stretch...
