Hi  Everyone.

I'm trying to determine how Solidworks looks up the fields in the Materials File.

For example, when linking the material name field (for the BOM or BOM-related) purposes, we simply use  $PRP:"MATERIAL".

However, when looking through the same Material File in it's XML (or text) form, one sees that there is no field name "MATERIAL", but Instead a field using only "name" for it's reference.

Okay can you see where we're going here?

So...., this leads me back to the question of how Solidworks looks up its fields in the Material file, because if we can truly add Custom Property as shown in the screenshot below:

then since Solidworks is using names other than those in the XML file, (I'm not fluent in XML and am only able to understand the basics) how do we reference a custom one for use in a BOM?

If anyone could please help as I'm really stumped here.

Many thanks,

Rufus
