AMD FirePro M5100 switchable graphics

I was able to correct issues with my M6100 AMD FirePro (in a Dell M6800) by turning off switchable graphics (see this thread Very helpful.

Other users here have M5100 cards (in Dell M4800s) and this fix causes problems. Turn off switchable graphics and the laptop screen is not usable. It is blank when undocked (unconnected to any other screen) and when other screens are connected the image lags behind.

Any fixes?
