Making a simple cut on a SHEET METAL bracket. Instead of the cut feature using the sketch boundary, it removes all material from the edge of the cut sketch. Like I sketched a square
boundary. it removes everything not only what I have sketched to be cut. I am assuming that this is a software glitch.

Welcome to the forum. Check in the "Selected Contours" section of the cut's PropertyManager and make sure you don't have something selected that you don't want to remove. If that's not it, then as others said, please post the file. (Click on the text "Use advanced editor" at top right of the Reply box, then there will be a link to attach files at lower right.)
OR did you clicked "flip side to cut" by mistake?
Thanks I figured it out and YES I needed to unselect the Normal Cut option in the Cut Menu. Just a little un-familiarity with the software.
By the way been a Inventor user for over 6 years. My new job is using Solidworks 2015 and it is so much better than inventor. Anyone who buys inventor is not very smart as far as I am concerned. I cannot believe how much easier Solidworks is to use after 2 months then after 6 years using inventor.

I'm glad to hear you say that Jim. I often hear it the other way around on this forum. A few months back I applied for a job (I'm retired but just needed something to do) and they used inventor. I don't think I had ever seen it up on a screen before. I had always heard that SW and inventor were very similar so I thought no problem. They gave me a test and by the time I figured out how to sketch a line the test was over.
