I'd like to set the default properties to configurations to be "Configuration Name" instead of "Link to Parent Configuration." Is there a way to do this. If not, is there a way to make a macro change it?
I apologize I wrote a response that was wrong not understanding the question and deleted it.
No there is not however a design table may help you. Create a design table, see your settings and change them and then delete it (if your not used to using them)
The $PartNumber is the Bom's properties$C-Config
Or the full name its the same thing. When you delete the table the last settings are kept.
Have you tried opening a new Part, making this change, and saving your Part Template? I think that will work, but haven't personally tried.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to hold.
By default if you just add a configuration then it is like you want it to be and by default when you create a configuration and choose to add a derived configuration then it is linked to the parent configuration.
So there is no way to actually change those defaults? I'd like both of them to default to "Configuration Name".
Do you need to make Derived Configurations - I would just make regular configurations, then you won't have that option....
This will work. Thank you!
