How do you measure the surface area of an assembly but exclude the areas of overlapping geometry?

I have created a shape formed by 4 overlapping cones. I wish to measure the surface area of this shape but I don't want to include the area underneath where the geometry overlaps (see attached image). Does anyone know if there is a way round this?

Any help would be extremely appreciated
