what is the best way:
1- design the weldment and sheet metal parts in the separate part and then assemble them as a component
2- design the weldment and sheet metal parts in the one part as a separate body.
I would opt for 2 and take advantage of multi body.
i know that you are expert in sw . my idea is same to you . but in our company we have several steel plate material (ss 316 , ss 304, ss 316l,) and several thick(1mm to 10) and every has a special code for example steel plate thick 2 material ss304 code= 12312 --- steel plate thick 2 material ss316 code= 12315 , .......
. i want to export a bom involve : thick, material, code from this .
can you help me im in trouble . if this is necessary i explain more
You can assign different materials to separate bodies in a Part, and you could insert a Cut List, which acts like a BOM, but shows cut list properties instead of general Part properties.
i have to open the cut list of every body plate and insert the code . i wish i can create a configuration of plate (involve thick, material, code ) same to tubing. is there any trick
You can add the properties to the profiles once (yes you can make profiles for plates also, I do it all the time) and then use as required.
i have a skid that have weldment profile ( IP 160) and several plate (that every one has special material , thick , code) as a stiffener . i start to design by weldment profile . an then i must insert the stiffeners. in this stage i must assign material to each body and then insert code(that relate to material and thickness) in their cut list . it make a lot of time to do this for every body . can u attach a simple part that you do ? tanx a lot
Can put any example right now but you set the properties in the weldment profile for plates. Will try to send over some example ASAP.

Re: Flat plate profile in weldments.
Using Plate in Weldments
I would keep separate.
1 part (number) = 1 file
You can still use In-Context (top down modeling) in the assembly.
could you plz attache a simple file . it will help me more than .
