That name won't be visible to users in the right click menu. But you can still change it:
Below is from the help file. "Menu command sample" is the name you want to change in the admin addin list. "First command" is what will appear in right click menus, and what users will see.
Public Sub GetAddInInfo(ByRef poInfo As EdmLib.EdmAddInInfo, ByVal poVault As EdmLib.IEdmVault5, ByVal poCmdMgr As EdmLib.IEdmCmdMgr5) Implements EdmLib.IEdmAddIn5.GetAddInInfo
'Specify the add-in information
poInfo.mbsAddInName = "Menu command sample"
poInfo.mbsCompany = "SOLIDWORKS Corporation"
poInfo.mbsDescription = "Adds menu command items"
poInfo.mlAddInVersion = 1
poInfo.mlRequiredVersionMajor = 5
poInfo.mlRequiredVersionMinor = 2
'Add menu command items (the command-ID numbers 1000 and 1001 are
'arbitrary; PDM does not use them; instead, PDM only passes them to the
'implementation of OnCmd to know which command was selected)
poCmdMgr.AddCmd(1000, "First command", EdmMenuFlags.EdmMenu_Nothing, "This is the first command", "First command", 0, 99)
poCmdMgr.AddCmd(1001, "Second command", EdmMenuFlags.EdmMenu_MustHaveSelection, "This is the second command", "Second command", 1, 99)
"APIMoveExample" is different from "Move file example". Those text strings are in your code in a subroutine called GetAddinInfo. Please paste your code so I can show you what to change.
The help file I referenced is at http://help.solidworks.com/2016/English/api/epdmapi/vbmenuitem.htm?id=47875e280fdf4e8d85a39a1da75145ab#Pg0
Thanks for trying to help me out with this, unfortunately when I said I need help in laymen terms I really meant it
I received this Add-In example from my VAR. what I received from them was a file called Move File.cex (See image 1 below)
In the EPDM admin tool under Add-Ins I added this file. Once added, under add ins it is called APIMoveExample - 1(Solidworks) (See image 1 below)
This is the extent of my knowledge on this so when you ask me to past my code I do not even know where to get the code your asking for.
Ah, i see. So you're not even compiling this yourself. I was wondering how you got as far as you did without seeing any code. You will have to have your VAR recompile with the code changes.
I apologize for not giving you the whole picture in my first post. According to my IT guy I just talked to, once its compiled it cannot be changed. Im not sure if that's true or not, but at the end of the day your correct. I have to send it back to the VAR for tweaking. Thanks for the input.
