Can Solidworks do an exploded view of an assembly automatically???
There was a time, many years ago, when that option was available. It was a nightmare and SolidWorks made the wise decision to remove it.
Jeff,
I wouldn't exactly call it a nightmare. Unpredictable and puzzling, certainly. I remember hearing that it was somehow derived from the assembly mates (those were pretty limited by today's standards too), but I could never see how. Indeed, an idea best set aside until a much better way is found.
Personally I don't think anything but the simplest assembly could be automatically exploded in a useful way, so not much to be gained.
No. You have to create an assembly explosion in the configuration manager of your assembly file.
