Settings wont transfer from SW 2006 to SW 2007?

I ran the "Copy Settings Wizard" in my SW 2006 installation, then went on another computer that we have SW 2007 installed on and ran the swreg file. The import appeared to be successfull, but none of my settings or toolbars show up when I load SW 2007.

Any ideas why this may be happening?

btw, I am running as an admin on both machines.

No one else has this question

Hi Chris-

I use the Copy Settings all the time. The difference is I am always in the same version, 2006 - 2006, 2007 - 2007. So, I guess the settings won't update unless they apply to the same version, it sort of makes sense, the options change from version to version.

    The confusing thing is if you upgrade a computer from 2006 to 2007, the Settings will apply from the old to the new. But, using the Setting Wizard, this appears not to apply.

This is mostly down to the fact that the reg keys for SW2006 have '2006' in the path and not '2007' for SW2007....

The simplest solution I found;

1) Open the .sldreg file in Notepad/Wordpad.
2) Do a search/replace and replace '2006' with '2007' in all the reg key entries, i.e;

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2006]

becomes

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2007]

and so on.

  Thanks. This seems to work. Hopefully it doesnt have any negative effects on the registry
  
  I wonder why SolidWorks doesnt make a easy solution for this...

  Martin's method/idea is good. However, what about Registry values that are new in 2007 and don't exist in 2006?
