Why does a ghost feature manager tree appear beside the usual one? This sometimes happens when I click in a blank area of the work space, but also appears at other times. It is quite annoying.
Graphics card would be my first guess
That would have been my first guess, but how can I find out if that's the problem without spending hundreds to find out?
It's an NVIDIA Quadro 600.
Does this show up on all parts and assemblies or just the one you show in you image? If it's just the one file it may be corrupted.
This shows up on any part. I'm updating my video card driver to see if that cures it.
I have also seen this. My graphics card is an ATI V4800.
Actually saw it on 2 separate machines, both with the same specs and graphics card/driver combo.
The only way I found to fix it was to restart SW and/or reboot.
You can check for approved graphics card drivers here > Graphics Card Drivers | SOLIDWORKS
I did a driver update. My driver is now newer than the one listed. The problem hasn't come up again, so maybe it's good now. Time will tell.
Generally, is it a good idea to have a new newer driver than the approved one, or can that cause problems?
If it's not listed on our page then a) we haven't tested it yet or b) it's caused issues with the software. Quite often it's the former and the system will run fine but you may get unexpected issues arising if it ends up failing our tests.
Never had been an issue w/the phantom feature tree until SW 2015. And I often get the pencil instead of my normal default cursor as well. Hummm?
Nvidia Quadro-4000 card here. I stay with the latest SW suggested drivers.
