Is there anyone that uses Solidworks Electrical for automotive schematics that can direct me to a good database that contains standard automotive symbols? Thanks in advance

To follow onto this, once in the portal look in the commonly request library (it has mil-spec), Deutsch and Amphenol. These are common Aerospace/Automotive connectors.
Also, if you do not find the symbols you're looking for, take a look at other, existing symbols that are close to what you need. You can usually just copy them, edit them slightly to what you need, and you're off running.
This is much faster than creating a symbol from scratch. Also, keep in mind that you do not always have to have a perfect "1-to-1" replica of your standard symbols, it just has to be electrically accurate (of course!), and meet your document control criteria. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to try to artistically duplicate your existing symbols.
Good luck and let us know how you get on with it!
