Is there a standard version of Solidworks I can purchase?
Yes there is...........
SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD | SOLIDWORKS
Contact a VAR and they'll give you all the info you need.
I'd look around as there are sometimes good offers now, I'm sure i've seen on our var website, 50% discount.
Discount for bundle, therefore subscription will cost you much. I did not hear discount for standard version alone.
To get the standard version your looking to make an investment in the program and a computer to run it on. Come up with a good plan on how you plan on using it. Most of the discounts that I have seen are for purchasing multiple licenses. Depending on your planed use of the program look at getting the student version.
Thank you all for the replies. I had student version but it expires. I was thinking of buying older version so that the price would drop a little but I have no luck in searching what I want. I can't afford 5 grant.
Why SW not making a low end-user version?
there's no such thing as buying older version of SW (or second hand), what you are buying/paying for is the licence and if you don't buy subscription service then you are getting the version of SW at the time of purchase.
ps> actually there are few ways to buy 2nd hand licence/s but that would be even more expensive for private person. it's more to do with bankrupt companies etc (and it's still not that easy)
ps2> have you looked into the online SW, I think there was something that you could use it for month are even shorter periods - obviously in long term that would be more expensive - but if it's for one off then it's cheaper than buying the software/licence
Thanks for the information.
