I've been seeing this lately on a few assembly models in SW2018.
It's supposed to tell you how long it took to open the last time you opened it, unless I'm misunderstanding what it's telling me.
There's absolutely no way that this time is accurate. It wasn't even 30 seconds.
LOL, obviously that was a joke.....but seriously speaking.
I think that I have seen this before in another thread. Let me see if I can find it.
Nanoseconds would be cool too.
I am curious (this is from the help file):
See the highlighted area. If you add a column to your windows explorer, do you get the same time listed?
It says 0:31, which I'm guessing is 31 minutes, not seconds.

I can't seem to find the other thread that I was thinking of. I seem to remember that Alin Vargatu and/or Todd Blacksher and/or Jim Wilkinson was involved though. So maybe they know a bit about the issue.
I remember this one which was component counts, not necessarily time.
That particular one *may* be logically explained if the number of components in sub-assemblies has changes. The total count shows what was last in the top level assembly and sub-assemblies can be changed independent of the top level assembly, so the top level assembly wouldn't know of the new total count until it encounters those modified sub-assemblies in the opening process.
I can't recall any opening time issues but maybe Nick Birkett-Smith would know more about this particular subject.

It's really hard to know what happened. One reason would be if something interrupted the opening of the assembly the previous time, and a message / prompt was waiting for input for a long time while the user was away from their desk. Ideally I'd like the software to stop the clock in those cases, but we don't yet have a reliable solution in place for that. Is that theory a possibility Andy Sanders?

This about the last time the assembly was opened and saved.
Do a quick test. Open it and save it. Now open it again and see what the results is.
Just tried it.
The last time I opened this assembly was roughly an hour ago. So it can't be the actual time between now and when it was last opened.
But this time of 21 seconds makes much more sense as far as time for Solidworks to open the file and present it to me to work on.

"When" you last opened it is not relevant. It is when you last opened it and saved it. The Open Time is a property that is saved in the file, so if you do not save the file, the property will not actually show you the last open time.
Funny you should bring this up today. I opened an assembly a little while ago (not last saved by me) and it said it last took 241 minutes. I opened it in under 30 seconds.

Save it (if you can) and open it again. See what is says.
If it's referring to the literal amount of time since the last time the assembly was open, that is not very useful info.
Due to the fact that it's counting the seconds as you open it leads a user to believe the time information below it relates to that.
This particular assembly has at least 5 sub-assemblies of varying size and complexity. They're all opened when the top level assembly is opened.
The last time I opened it, I don't remember anything interrupting it. I just sit patiently waiting for it
All I know is it did NOT 31 minutes to open it. I would have been very irate!

As mentioned earlier it records the amount of time between the time you pressed open and the moment the graphics data has been computed and displayed. The assembly needs to be saved in order to record this time in the file properties.
Those units are listed in metric. You have to convert to Imperial to get to the correct time.
