It`s possible to make custom Part number property and assign value to it by expression. It`s very good feature.
But I can`t make the same for SW-Part Number property which is used in BOM.
It is not good to use two part numbers in general.

SW-Part Number itself is a expression for extracting file name. Why you want to change it. For BOM you can set a different property or set the value in the configuration properties.
Hi
Now SW-Part Number is not an expression.
You can assign it only to:
"Document Name","Configuration Name" or "User Specified Name" from configuration property dialog.
Why it`s impossible to choose custom property from the same list?
At the same time I tried to make other task - to assign SW-Part Number in configuration property dialog and assign this property to my custom iPartNumber=$PRP:"SW-Part Number" without success.
My bad, I mistakenly read it as SW-File Name.
Why you want it ti assign to a custom property? Where that value for SW-Part Number would come from?
For example,
I have a rectangle plate and I want to assign "Plate AxBxt" to SW-Part Number, where A is width,B is Height and t is thickness.
For this I have to use custom property dialog expression because where is no the same functionality in configuration property dialog.
And there is no "SW-Part Number" property in "Configuration specific" tab.
And I can`t assign iPartNumber=$PRP:"SW-Part Number"

Why you ant to do that? Why not use iPartNumber in the BOM?
I can of course but why there is SW-Part Number. BOM,balloons, configuration properties and so on are linked to SW-Part Number by default. And I want to use this default way. All I need now is putting SW-Part Number property to "custom configuration" tab.
I`m sure it is possible. I found "SW-Part Number" property in Name list of Property Tab Builder. So you can set SW-Part Number property in property dialog
but unfortunately without result, because SW read some other "SW-Part Number (BOM)" property from configuration property tab.
So then you make drawing with BOM you get
My qwestion is what is the name of this Part Number (BOM) property and why it`s not in Configuration Specific Property tab where it`s possible to set expression to it (based on dimensions of model for example)
I want to return to this problem in view of this idea Allow equations (including if/then statements) in defining custom properties.
Imagine, you use fileName for [SW-BOM PartNumber] mostly but at the same time you want to use custom property for this.
If I make custom iPartNumber property I`ll have to have two columns in my BOM.

Looking at your other post here, you should only need to reference a single Custom property field. Create a Config specific custom property called 'PART NUMBER" (or what ever you'd like to call it) and link it to your required dimensions similar to what Deepak mentioned. In your bom, change the column type selection to 'custom property' and then select 'PART NUMBER' in the next drop down. The selected column type 'Part Number' seems to link to the Part Number field in the Configuration properties (Where you have input 'Value2'), which only has 3 options: Doc name, Config name, user specified.
Do the same in the balloon, select custom properties-->Model found here--> select the desired custom property.
Edit: Did not realize this was from 2016
Yes, I`ve created my custom PartNumber and sometimes It get FileName or ConfigName or some equation based on dims.
I know this workaround and use it.
Here, in this post, I want to ask SWX to expand functionality by adding ability to assign custom property to [SW-BOM Part Number]. In this case we don`t need to create custom PartNumber property.
If you write $PRP:"PartNo" in Bill Of Material options I would understand you that time.
Thanks to Bill Toft in this post Is it possible to group BOM items by certain properties?
