I`m trying to bend angle beam, but have some unexpected behavior of flex feature. Free cut faces have to be plane after deformation, but I can`t get this result
yeah - it is all bout setting your trim planes and bend axis correctly
I'm on SW2017 so I can't open your file and see what your flex settings are.
So I had to draw something up and the flex doesn't affect the cut edges. They remain straight, only angled toward each other.
I moved the trim planes into the cut (which I drew centered on the length):
I attached my part.
Thank you very much, but cut edges have to be parallel after bending, not before, you cant weld so much gap
Please send me your part
it is attached to my earlier reply...
I wanted that right part of beam stay on place, it`s in-conext part. But even in this case I can draw straight line (before bending) perpendicular to cut-line.
move your trim planes and bend axis to where the notch ends. (on both ends)
Thank you Jeremy, now everything is OK,except one tiny moment, tangent line doesn`t coincide with sketch bend line, though end points are on place
I don't have 2018 installed, so I cannot investigate your file. maybe someone else will be able to determine what is going on there.
I always struggle with the flex feature. One thing that I found sometimes helps is dividing things into separate bodies. I then only flex the part I concerned about. I then move the bodies back where I want them and merge them back together.
Part I want to flex:
Separate body after the flex:
After using a couple of Body move/copy commands it's back where it belongs, but bent.
I don't know if this might help you keep the part you need to not move where it belongs.
