Just wondering if anyone has figured out a way to search a subset of workflow states in PDM Standard. I know I can search one or all but I can't seem to figure out how to search somewhere in between.
I've added a variable called 'state' to our datacards. I change the variable through the transitions. If you want you can hide the box on the datacard, but this way you can use the variable tab in the complete search for multiple states.
Thank you Stavros! That sort of works - do you have any way of adding some type of a pick list instead of using the variables tab?
If I use the variables tab I'll have to write out a list of available states on the form and hope there's no typos when the user enters them. Also in my testing it only works if I add states. If I try to use "Text does not contain" or "Text not equal to" I get no results.
I tried "text not equal to", the first time this did not work, but now it seems to be fine. **Edit: I forgot to untick 'Search in all versions'.
I cannot think of anyway to get a drop down like option, I was initially thinking to set each state as a separate variable and adding a series of drop-downs to 'name and location'. I believe they would act as and operators instead of or.
I would setup a favorite search with all of the states pre-populated, that way the user can select 'remove' instead of writing them in.
Perhaps someone else knows another way of doing this?
I can't set up favorites with PDM Standard but I'll give multiple variables a try. Giving them true/false values should allow check boxes on the search card I think.
You can give it a shot, I would try just doing two for now to test it. I am pretty sure it will act like an and operation.
My only other suggestion would be to keep a text file somewhere so users can copy paste state names.
