why is solidworks saying my text is not fully defined when trying to emboss? It never used to do this. Also every single tutorial I have watch does not show the user having any issue. They just go from text to extrude with no problem.
Thanks Richard that was it! Ha I looked at that page 3 times and missed it. Doh!
Can you post an example?
Im very "green" and not sure how to post example. Im in learn mode. However its a simple one so I try to explain. I model up a simple cube. Sketch a center line on one face. Then using the text feature I type a few letters on the line. From there I go to the extrude cut mode. At this point a box pops up that says " this operation requires a fully defined sketch"
In past just playing around I did not have this issue. Also watched a bunch of tutorials on line and they dont have this issue eather.
You might have this option selected:
I usually have to tie the text to a line, or fix it in space for it to become 'fully defined'. One of the exceptions of fully defining sketches.
Well the text is tied to a center line. But like I say it never had to have anything other than that in past and in ALL tutorials I have watched they do exactly the same but no extra key strokes to define it. They just go from typing in text to extrude just as I used to do.
