Currently, in Hole Wizard, if you input a Tapered Pipe Tap (NPT), the largest size you could select is 3".
I was wondering if there exists an API which allows you to select a 4" NPT tap.
Thank you very much.
To Add a NPT size:
From the SolidWorks menu select Tools, Options...
In the System Options tab, select Hole Wizard/Toolbox, then click the Configure... button.
In the Toolbox window, select 1. Hole Wizard
Expand the ANSI Inch standard until you get to Tapered Pipe Tap.
Click on the + to the left of the Enabled column header.
Enter the data for the 4" NPT pipe tap (the hole wizard I use has 3.5, 4, 5 and 6 already added).
When complete click on the save icon next to the Toolbox icon in the upper left hand corner of the window.
Close this window.
Close the system options window.
You should now have the 4"NPT available in holewizard.
If you have the dimensions you can add them yourself by accessing hole wizard through the system settings
Cool, sounds good!
How would you do this?
Okay, that sounds perfect!
Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
Benjamin, you could also try selecting/changing the "Standard" above the "Type" pull down. Depending on what standard you select you are given different options. You should be able to get to at least 6" NPT before needing anything custom.
Edit: My apologies if you needed to do this through an API ... Someone didn't read the entire post thoroughly ...
I want use a NPT thread however, which I believe follows the ANSI Standard. Under ANSI, the size only goes up to 3".
ISO and NPT threads are slightly different:
