I have the student version, but I can only use it for educational purposes. I looked at the price for a solidworks license and it's really expensive. Do you just have to use it at work or school? Does your company give you a code you can use to activate it at home for personal use?
Eric, It depends on where you work. Each seat of Solidworks comes with a second license useable on another computer. Most smaller companies allow their employees to take that license and either use it on a home computer or laptop. Other companies such as ours which is smaller set up laptops with the second license for offsite projects. We use remote access to work from home when we have to. Primarily wind up using remote access when weather dictates I would rather stay home then try to cross the tundra.
So to answer your original question outside of a student version, which if you are a student you can get a yearly license to have on your own computer there is no "personal" license option for Solidworks. You have to pony up the 3-4K for the license to have your own "seat".
