    Smart fasteners interference

      I used the "Smart fasteners" feature to get all fasteners in place and saving much time.

      I started a simulation analysis but an error message appeared saying that i have so many components interferences.

      The interference detection results saying that all my bolts and nuts made automatically with the "Smart fasteners" feature are interferenced..


      The picture below will explain more about the interference problem :


      i tried to mate the bolt with the nut using the mechanical mate "Screw" but it doesn't give me the possibility to select the thread schematic of the bolt.


      I'm really confused !

      Any help please?

          Hi, you need to think about your objectives for the Simulation. Running an analysis with highly detailed fasteners (even if you solve the interference) will be very slow. Also be aware even those threads are representations only as they are not helical based. The screw mate depends on the start position of the bolt as it attempts to nest together the teeth- so this is typically done by eye. SolidWorks Simulation allows you to use bolt connectors to represent the effects of bolts (material, diameters, pre-loads) and these are better for quicker solve times. The only reason to really have bolts in the simulation is if the specific reason for the analysis is to predict bolt failure, or the effect they have on the fixing points.
