Suppose there is an assembly folder and many relevant parts files are in it. Let we say we have change the name of some part files. I know to create link one by one. I wish to know, is there any way to create new link to all files all together?
In the File..Open dialog, there is a References button. Click on it and you can change the file name and/or location of any referenced file.
MY problem is not clear enough.
I have an assembly file, 2 part files name have been changed. When I open this assembly file there is a window asking options, I select “Browse for file” option and select 2 file one by one.
If it is 2 name changed files selecting one by one is okay. If there is many name changed files how to select all together?
Read my reply again and then do what it says.
If this dialog box comes up, you can only select one at a time....
You can rename two different ways that work ok, one better then the other
1. Use SW Explorer to rename the file
2. Do a Save As - new file name - (then open the folder and delete the original file)
As Jim Sculley said, open SolidWorks, go to File > Open. Browse to the Assembly file. Select it, but don't open it, and click on the References button. That will take you to another dialog box where you can change all references.
How will you do file management?
I can see many assembly files in the above folder. I assume that you are having all assembly files in one folder and relevant part files are in another separate folder.
I probably didn't use a good example. Those are some library sub-assemblies that are used for multiple projects, but it's my usual practice to have all files that are unique to a particular project in the same folder.
