Did SW 2017 change the file type of the drawing templates from DRT to DOT?
Today I installed 2017 in an attempt to open a problem imported model. While the install completed, I am unable to use it because the network license manager is the 2016 version and everyone else is on '16 so i didn't want to change it. I also edited a pair of my part drawing files and now when I attempt to add a sheet to drawings I am unable to access the sheet templates. As shown in the views below, if I select open to open a new drawing or template, the browser looks for a .prtdot, .asmdot or .drwdot file. If while in a drawing I attempt to add/change a template by using the properties dialogue box the only options I have are for .drt and .slddrt templates.
Can anyone help me get to the .dot templates?
Thank you
DRWDOT files are templates. SLDDRT files are sheet formats. You can't replace the template used to create a drawing. If the sheet formats are inaccessible, when adding a new sheet, it is probably because the file location for sheet fomats has been updated to the 2017 location. In Tools, Options, File Locations, select Sheet Fomats in the drop down and see if it is pointing at a 2017 folder. If so, delete that entry and point it at the 2016 location.
