Cut sweep a blade path

Hello All

Today's challenge :

I'm looking to sweep what is a blade path which can rotate along an axis leaving a "castellated cut" which is what our more fancy machines can do.

Attached picture shows a 10mm blade rectangle , it central axis which does not change and two guide paths which would result as the blade rotates about the central axis.

Being able to do this cut sweep would be super handy as we experiment with blade paths

As you can see in the other picture the sweep path will work but SW changes the paths from the desired square path to a nice smooth parabola type thing !

Any help or suggestions much appreciated

Paul : yours is a nice suggestion , can t get wrap to work due to "self intersecting or open contours" but this will no doubt be down to user error , which i will get to the bottom of when i get a chance

It isnt a perfect solution as i was hoping to experiment with our machines blade as it rotates about its centre at a maximum of 7 deg

however , it is a solution for which i convey to you many thank yous

Jeff,.. kewl.. you can set up your sketch to include the degs.. and there are other ways (not sure which version your using) but the sweep feature (using tool body (drill)) can work as well (sometimes) ,.. it takes more setup (imho).. but you may like it better?.

Post your overlapping example and maybe we can help figure it out?

The problem is that wrapping does not show the interesting profiles that our cutting wire creates

These are always good to see when planning a wire path to plan as much as we can to prevent the wire from getting the wire snagged

your idea is still an improvement on what we have been doing but for the final proposal ill still need to create at least 600 planes , sweeps and other associated cr@p
