The section view slider jumps around and is not smooth when i am trying to select a section to view. This makes it so certain sections are not selectable, because the 3d spherical slider skips the areal. Who knows the location of the setting for this?
There is no information on this in the section view website from dassault.

That sounds and looks like a graphics card issue....
As John says this is most likely a graphics card issue. If I am not mistaken there is no setting for the smoothness of the section view.
If you want to get more accurate without changing anything you can manually change the depth of the section as pictured below.
The other option is to see if you are on the correct SW approved graphics driver. Download links for these are found here.

It seems like there is a section view snap option, where the section view snaps to some unit increments. I do not think it is a graphics card issue, because there is no lag during any operation of my software. Thanks for your help!
I am also on a laptop that is not a SW verified machine.
Since its' not a verified, how can you expect it to work correctly?
Is your machine verified? I bought a top of the line HP laptop, with hardware better than verified machines, but i think that doesnt matter since it is not "verified." But i do know that this issue is not due to software or hardware. There is zero lag during section view incremental snapping.
Unfortunately Dan spec of a component CPU or GPU in this case is not related to its support unfortunately. Take Solidworks Visualize as a prime example. Because it uses a graphics engine derived by Nvidia it has no support whatsoever for AMD cards and currently is unsupported for the Nvidia GTX1080 there flagship consumer grade model.
A rule of thumb I stick too is that nvidia workstation or M series cards will 99% of the time work but it is always best to check. What is most likely happening in your case is that your onboard graphics are being used due to the unsupported GPU. It may help to run in open GL mode but mileage varies on how effective that is that can be found in settings here.

Thanks. I did not know SW was designed for NVIDIA, but it is working pretty well with my AMD graphics card.
It does not look like the option is checkable for me. How could I use it?

I've never used it, but I believe it will be grayed out if you have a file open. Try closing all SW files and then see if you can select it.
Here is a forum post to how to get it on or off. But Glenn is correct it should be greyed out if you have parts/ assems open.

The intensity of lag can vary - According to your different issues and pictures is pretty much in line of having an unsupported graphics card........
When you guys slide a section view plane in mm/g/s, does the plane lock on to mm increments? I found out that what i thought was smooth sliding was when i was using in/lb/s, and the locking occurred at 1/100 of inches, which is hardly noticeable to my naked eye, but it was still snapping. I guess i have to define an exact number in the options pane (if that is what it is called), on the left. Thanks for all your help!
