Hi can't figure this one out,
every time i try to drag a list box to create the builder crashes i get the "Property tab builder has stopped working"
Are you trying to create a property tab file or getting the property from an existing property tab builder file.
Is this for a part, assembly or drawing?
I am trying to create a property tab. I just updated to SP 3 to see if it fixed but not luck.
Try this attached PTB file for part
First try on a part file and see if it works
Then try to open with property tab builder and modify
Hope this works
It works for me,
I am using SW2015SP3 + Win8.1
it works on solid works part but not in the property tab builder.
I'm having exactly the same issue. I can create a totally new file in Property Tab Builder and as soon as I so much as touch the "List" item in the left-hand menu, I immediately get the "Property Tab Builder has stopped working" dialog. Groupbox, Textbox, Number, Checkbox, and Radio all work fine.
Running SW2015 SP05 on Win10.
There is a chance you are missing the links to either an excel or an access file.
Is the List item is linked to something else?
Not that I'm aware of -- I've just started using the Property Tab Builder for the first time and I'm working with a fresh new document. Is there some sort of linking to the List item outside the document being edited? If so, where would I check that?
Note that I'm talking about clicking the List item in the left hand menu itself (ie. I'm trying to create a List item), not a particular List item in a constructed document.
Did you name your list as soon as you drop them in the dialog box, Property Tab Builder doesn't like 2 fields the same name - Example below, it don't like two different lists the same....
There are 2 buttons in the configurations area pick the one that says
If you pick the other one, the custom properties will not update when using Task Scheduler
I'm not even able to get that far, John. All I'm doing is the following:
- Open Property Tab Builder
- Create a new, blank file
- Click the List item in the left-hand column (don't even have a change to drag it)
- The hang occurs immediately.
This seems very much like something either misconfigured or corrupted, but I can't imagine what.
Did you restart your computer?
Can you open an older file
Try to open the attached file
Yes, I have restarted my computer, repaired my Solidworks install, etc etc.
I can seemingly only open files that do not contain a List item at all. Otherwise Property Tab Builder crashes immediately when I attempt to open it.
And, for the record, I've now tried completely reinstalling Solidworks from scratch. Still not working! There has to be some sort of bug I'm running into (which apparently the couple of others in this thread are also encountering). Not sure what the common denominator is.
I believe I've found the solution!
Install Microsoft Excel. The machine I run Solidworks on had no particular use for Office so I never installed it, but installing it immediately made Property Tab Builder work with List items again. Apparently since the List item allows use of Excel spreadsheets as input for list entries, it is looking for something (a library or similar?) that I didn't have, and apparently it didn't elegantly expect this situation and simply crashed.
So it's a bit of an annoying bug, but hopefully the others here who have this problem also don't happen to have Excel installed.
It's never fun to be the Lab Test Cat, but still good info, great that you found it.
