# Set a space between Feet, Inches and Meters?

Is there some where in SW 2015 to set the space between the feet, inches and with a Dual dimension of Meters?

Its hard to tell where its ft and inches, but because of the symbols its easier to distinguish, however if there was a small space between these it would help. Another reason for a space is because these dimensions are smaller when printed  and it makes those symbols a lot lot harder to see.

Hello Scott,

Have you tried playing around with stacked dimensions size by percentages? By playing around with it, it could help add some distance between your secondary dimension, however, you might run into some issues with print output, therefore try adjusting the font size of dims by a bit.

Another thing is to put your secondary dimension below your primary, which works really great to display clear indication of differing units.

Hope this helps,

Alen

I tried playing around with your suggestions and your right the percentage might make it even harder to read when printed out. So I tried using another option of the 4 for fractional layout, and I found this one:

There is a nice space between the 8 and the fraction, which is great, but there needs to be a small space between the 3' and the 8 IMO and possibly one between the fraction and the dual. Granted I could move the Dual dimension to either the top or the bottom.

I guess there is really no way to control this without overriding the dimension and I am not going to do that. I think that option should be removed, it is overly abused.

Thanks again Alan for the suggestions.

You are very welcome Scott, as I learned my self right now, ER#855643 is in the works as per Glenn's input, therefore, try playing around with a few different outputs. Did you try putting them one on top of the other? Have inches on top and millimeters below XX (inch) / XX (mm)

Enhancement Request #855643 (Ability to control primary / dual dimension spacing) appears to cover this issue.

Thanks Glen! I will make sure I get added to this ER.

Kind Regards,

There is a document setting that will put a dash in between the feet and inches 6'3" --> 6 '- 3" that makes it clear. Is a common display setting for feet & inches. You find it under document properties -> units -> set unit to Feet & inches and click more button
