I need to know if SolidWorks 2015 will be compatible with Windows 10...
Thank you in advance!
NO official news yet: SOLIDWORKS System Requirements
Yes...Solidworks 2015 IS compatible with Windows 10. I have been running the two together for quite some time now. You will have to run Solidworks in Comparability mode for now but once you do that it runs just fine. See the post below to explain this in more detail. In the post below scroll down to issue #1
SOLIDWORKS & Windows 10 Issues & Fixes
Windows 10 Is here! Does it work with SolidWorks?
Did you clean install Windows 10? or upgraded it from your current windows version?
After a clean install of windows 10, I wasn't able to install Solidworks.
The install process showed the following error at 2% completion and refused to continue.
Internal Error: The windows installer for this product component did not run as expected: set_QuiteModeActions
Even changing the compatibility mode for the install file, nothing changed.
I had to go back to win 8.1
I did an upgrade from windows 8.1 with no issues but I did not have Solidworks installed on that machine prior to the Windows 10 upgrade so I did in fact have to install Solidworks after.
I'm not sure if this will help but I found one solution to that message from 2013. Its worth a try. See the link below. Hope it helps.
thanks for your advice. I'll give it a try this weekend.
I've been seeing a lot of anecdotal evidence (in these forums and elsewhere) to suggest that Windows 10 and SW 2015 will work together just fine.
But it's worth noting that "I upgraded to 10 and SW wasn't negatively impacted" and "SW's devs have had a chance to run the full gamut of tests and can give their stamp of approval for supporting it" are two very different things.
You should have reasonably high expectations that they are compatible (first search these forums for "Windows 10" and take a look around at what others are saying), but I still wouldn't expect SW to formally support it just yet.
I'm betting on 2015 SP5 and 2016 SP0 being the first ones to get the official go-ahead, but that's just an educated guess based on some wording choices in SW's tech blog post on the subject.
I was dealing with crashes last night when trying to save a drawing. Still haven't figured out why, but will be back at it tonight.
Jeff, that's an easy fix....Check out the link below. It explains how to fix this. I did it right away and I have 0 crashes in Windows 10 now.
