We have a dispatch script that generates PDF files of
drawings at approval. Been trying to set values from the original
drawing file card to the PDF file card without any success. Is it
possible and if so how?
updated:
No. It is not possible for PDMWorks Enterprise to read or write
embedded properties in PDF files.
This is a current limitation of PDMWorks® Enterprise and has
been reported to Development under SPR#384114 "Should have a PDF
plugin that can read and write custom properties in PDF files".
Please refer to the SPR Look-up Subscription Services site for the

I am however not looking at setting the PDF files properties. I
only need to write to the file card. The process should be the same
for any file as I see it.
We also need to write data to the cards and have not found a way to
do it through dispatch. The only way I know of is to do it through
the API. An exe can be called from dispatch I believe.
So my understanding is that you are using Dispatch to create the
PDF? and you would like to grab the attributes from the source and
apply them to the newly created destinations files data card....
hmmmm.... good one.
I know how to get the variable values, but, I don't know how to
apply them to the PDF.
