I have created a part with 2 shell elements and 1 one body to create a simulation
My question is how do i set the contacts up for the shell elements as the are welded together and the shell element to the solid body.
how are the shell and solid welded? they are very far apart
same goes for the shells
what are you trying to learn in the analysis? what does the rest of your setup look like?
shells are mid plane of the sheet thickness.
how are they welded together
what are you trying to learn
In spite of recent advancements and claims, you can't always just throw FEA onto existing CAD models without modification. A little additional preparation will go a long way.
Get rid of any gaps between bodies. Fill gaps as needed by extending surfaces, etc.Make split lines wherever bodies meet edge-to-face so that meshes intersect with more control.
roland this is a model designed for Fea based of an assembl model. I am not to familar with how the bonded contace work with shell meshes and what is the right approach to tell the solver the outer shell is edge welded to an inner shell.
that defines a "welded" connection
